About us, Vision, & Mission
The Indian Occupational Therapists Think Tank (IOTTT) is a registered society (658/2022) under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975. IOTTT started as a voluntary group of likeminded occupational therapists (OTs) who are interested in promoting their profession in India in 2019. The group became a registered organization in 2022. The first meeting of the voluntary group was held on February 3, 2019 in Chennai, India.
The members of this group must have obtained their
entry-level occupational therapy (OT) education in India. The membership is
open only to individuals who are endorsed by the other members of the group (one
member must propose the name and no member should object the inclusion of the
new member).
Vision
Indian Occupational Therapists Think Tank (IOTTT) envisions occupational therapy as a scientific, vibrant, and well recognized health care profession in India that enables people in India to live their life to the fullest.
Mission
The mission of this group is to contribute to the
development of the OT profession in India by (i) exploring the issues that influence
OT practice in India, (ii) developing resources to assist with the growth of
the profession, and (iii) empowering the skillset of OTs in India.
Objectives
1. To create a forum where IOTTT members can brainstorm the issues that influence the OT profession in India
2. To provide support to the OT workforce in India by developing useful resources pertaining to the Indian context of practice
3. To facilitate the understanding of OT in India by publishing official documents and position papers
4. To advance the scientific understanding of OT (pertaining to the Indian context) among stakeholders by publishing literature reviews, case studies, and commentaries
5. To support the advocacy efforts of the existing OT professional organizations in India by sending letters of support, sharing official documents, and contributing manuscripts for publication
6. To empower Indian OTs through skill development initiatives (e.g. webinars, workshops, training programs, researcher-clinician partnerships, etc.)
