Occupational Therapy Definition for Healthcare Professionals (Tamil)


செயல்முறை மருத்துவம் என்றால் என்ன?

நோயாளிகளின் அன்றாட செயல்களில் ஈடுபடும் திறன் குறைபாடுகளை ஆராய்ந்து தகுந்த சிகிச்சை மூலம் அவர்களை சுதந்திரமாக செயல்பட வைப்பதே செயல்முறை மருத்துவம் ஆகும். நோயின்/காயத்தின்/குறைபாட்டின் தாக்கத்தினால்:

(i)  சுய பராமரிப்பு (குளித்தல், உடை உடுத்துதல் போன்ற செயல்கள்) செய்ய இயலாமை

(ii) அன்றாட வீட்டு வேலைகள் (சுத்தப்படுத்துதல், உணவு சமைத்தல், குழந்தையை பராமரித்தல் போன்ற செயல்கள்) செய்ய இயலாமை 

(iii) வேலையில் நிரந்தரமின்மை அல்லது படிக்க/எழுத சிரமம்

(iv) தினசரி வழக்கங்களை (daily routine) கடைப்பிடிப்பதில் சிரமம்

(v) விளையாட்டு/பொழுதுபோக்குச் செயல்களில் ஈடுபடுவதில் சிரமம்

உள்ளிட்ட பிரச்சினை உள்ளவர்களை செயல்முறை மருத்துவ சிகிச்சைக்கு பரிந்துரைக்கலாம். ஒரு நோயாளியை நோயின் தாக்கத்திற்கு முன்னால் அவர் ஈடுபட்ட அனைத்து செயல்களிலும் சுயமாக ஈடுபட வைப்பதன் மூலம் அவரின் வாழ்க்கைத் தரத்தை மேம்படுத்துவதே செயல்முறை மருத்துவத்தின் நோக்கமாகும்.

செயல்முறை மருத்துவர்கள் பயன்படுத்தும் சில சிகிச்சை முறைகள்: புலனுணர்வு-அசைவுத்திறன் சார் பயிற்சிகள், உடற்பயிற்சி, குழு சிகிச்சை, அணைவரிக்கட்டை (splinting) சிகிச்சை, செயற்கை கை/கால் பயிற்சி, கைத்திறன் சிகிச்சை, பாதுகாப்பாக செயல்களில் ஈடுபடுவது குறித்த பயிற்சி, அறிவுத்திறன்சார் பயிற்சி, மற்றும் சுற்றுப்புறத்தை மாற்றியமைத்தல்.

This definition was developed by Indian Occupational Therapists Think Tank (IOTT) as a resource for occupational therapy (OT) practitioners and students in Tamil Nadu. This definition may be used to explain OT to the healthcare professionals such as doctors, psychologists, physical therapists, etc. It was drafted by a group of highly qualified and experienced occupational therapists originally graduated from India and are currently practicing/teaching/regulating OT either in India or abroad. Further, this definition was field tested through a survey that was sent to 11 Tamil speaking healthcare professionals comprising doctors, orthopedist, psychiatrist, emergency medicine specialist, psychologists, physiotherapists, special educator, speech language pathologist, and siddha medicine specialist. Nine professionals either strongly agreed or agreed that this definition is simple, clear, and easy to understand and 10 professionals either strongly agreed or agreed that it provides an idea about occupational therapy (OT). Further, 10 professionals either strongly agreed or agreed that with the help of this definition, they can refer a patient to OT.  After the review and deliberation of comments made by survey respondents, the definition was officially adopted by the IOTT on April 12, 2020.
