Compilation of Outcome Measures used in India The use of outcome measures is critical in occupational therapy (OT) practice and research. However, many practitioners and students find it difficult to identify and access outcome measures. To overcome this difficulty, IOTTT has developed this compilation of outcome measures. The measures listed are the ones reported in OT practice and research in India. This resource is free for everyone to use. Please feel free to download a copy of the compilation spreadsheet and use filter functions to locate a suitable scale. Please note that this compilation will be updated periodically and is not all inclusive.   This definition was developed by Indian Occupational Therapists Think Tank (IOTTT) as a resource for occupational therapy (OT) practitioners and students in India. This definition may be used to explain OT to the healthcare professionals such as doctors, psychologists, physical therapists, etc. It was drafted by a group of highly qualified and experienced occupational therapists originally graduated from India and are currently practicing/teaching/regulating OT either in India or abroad. Further, this definition was field tested through a survey that was sent to healthcare professionals (doctors, paediatrist, pathologist, surgeon, neurologist, physiatrist, psychologists, physiotherapists, special educator, speech language pathologist, and social worker). However, IOTTT received only 15 responses. This definition was developed by Indian Occupational Therapists Think Tank (IOTTT) as a resource for occupational therapy (OT) practitioners and students in India. This definition may be used to explain OT to the general public. It was drafted by a group of highly qualified and experienced occupational therapists originally graduated from India and are currently practicing/teaching/regulating OT either in India or abroad. Further, this definition was field tested through a survey targeting individuals who are not related to healthcare. However, IOTTT received only 30 responses. Of these 30 individuals, 25 either strongly agreed or agreed that the definition was clear, simple and easy to understand, and 29 individuals either strongly agreed or agreed that this definition provides an idea of OT.  After the review and deliberation of comments made by survey respondents, the definition was officially adopted by the IOTTT on December 19, 2021.  Please leave your comments to improve...

The Coronavirus Disease 2019 pandemic has disrupted the occupational therapy (OT) practice in many parts of the world, including India. Practitioners resorted to telerehabilitation to ensure continued service delivery. Guidelines pertaining to telerehabilitation would be immensely helpful for practitioners as they embrace telerehabilitation to deliver OT services. The IOTTT extends its warm wishes to Dr. Kamalakannan for achieving this honor and for the valuable contributions he is going to make. The COVID-19 guidelines were developed to empower rehabilitation professionals providing services for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) in India during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is intended for use by the rehabilitation professionals working both in private and public sectors in India. Dear all, To educate stakeholders and overcome the issue of professional boundary violations due to the lack of awareness/clarity regarding the OT profession's scope of practice, the Indian OTs Think Tank (IOTT) group has drafted a scope of practice document with respect to the Indian context of practice. The group is soliciting public comments on the draft.  Please review the draft and submit your comments in the comments section of this post. What is occupational therapy? Occupational therapy (OT) is an allied health profession. The word ‘occupation’ refers to all activities that we do in our daily life such as bathing, dressing, job or school related activities, play, hobby, etc. When a health problem affects a person’s ability to do daily activities, OT can help overcome the difficulties by improving his/her skills, learning a modified method, and/or modifying the environment. Some treatment tools used in OT include activities of daily living training, cognitive training, exercises, group therapy, hand therapy, home modification, play therapy, sensorimotor activities, splinting, and vocational training.
